In Nigeria,who has the custody of a child?

Some days ago,my husband and I had a debate on who has the sole custody of a child in case of a divorce,separation or anything that makes the woman move out of the home she shares/shared with the man,in Nigeria to be specific.

I told him the woman has the right to go with her kids and he was totally against my move and says even the law in Nigeria favours the man having custody of his child.He sighted the case of Daniel Ademinokan and Doris Simeon.He asked why wasn't Doris able to fight for her son back?If the law actually favours the mother,she can still fight the case from Nigeria and they no born Daniel well not to return the boy.In this case,I told him,In as much as Doris and Daniel's case is a bit of a puzzle to the public,Daniel still chanced Doris by stealing the boy from her abi?Anyway,to cut the story short,he said from the days of our forefathers (or whatever he meant),a woman has no right over a child."hmmm joker"

Please o,all the lawyers in the house,help us judge this and please throw more light on it for us.I lived in Nigeria more than him.I believe I still know more things about Naija than him.But in this case,do you think he's right?
