He is a breath of fresh air to d yoruba movie industry.A delight to watch especially among the ladies.Very handsome and articulate in his speech.
Gabriel Afolayan is one of the cute sons of the late Adeyemi Afolayan popularly known as Adelove. In this interview with him,He opened up on some of the challenges He has had to face in his career as an Actor and the project He has in the kitty. It's a bit lengthy but a bottle of coke and some popcorn will do the trick.*wink*Enjoy.
1) How has the experience in the movie world been with you so far?
we give Glory to God who has made me come this far. people have been in and out in a short while but I'm still here. its not me but my God doing wonders.
2)How long have you been acting?

2)How long have you been acting?
My professional journey started way back in 1990. I had a cameo role in a commissioned film contracted to MOSES OLAIYA ADEJUMO (BABA SALA) from London. I played a younger son in a poor family of six children who loved food. I was asked to show my skillz on how to eat like a glutton (lol). it was worth it.
3)Can u share with us some of the challenges you face in the industry?
There are lots of them but the very crude one is attending auditions without been picked. It could drive u nut especially when u think of transport fare and the time u spend waiting to be called upon (lol). At the same time, they won't give u welfare and trust me, u must have waited for a whole day (lol).
4)How does it feel been the son of a legend? and how do you feel stepping into your father's shoes?
Its indeed a privilege and honor to have come from a family that understands Film to its least component. Anytime i remember this, it sprouts unequal joy unlike ever felt. The late Adeyemi Josiah Afolayan a.k.a Ade-Love left a great legacy (filming) for us after well set priorities. Stepping into his shoes will be nothing to compare but all I could do is to embroidering this legacy, make it bigger than what he had and create MY OWN FASHION out of it. that is, taking filming beyond where he stopped.
5)You are mostly seen in the yoruba movies, why is that?
I do both with Godz grace perfectly well. The thing is I don't just opt out for acting sake i take my time in choosing what i roll with. The english and Yoruba film industry respectively are great outfits. If i'm called to take part in any I will. its just that my call to Jobs these days have been roaming the Yoruba circle cos many people thought i couldn't perform well in Yoruba language (which is my native lingua franca). To prove them wrong and set the records right, i wanna do more Yoruba films but if the English drama is worth it I will too. I am a cross over breed.

6)So how will you rate the english and yoruba movie industry?
We all know the ratings that Yorubas have better produce than that of her counterpart reasons been in the line of the stories they tell and the shooting style. Strong plotting and beauty in language are as well best known with Yoruba movies.
7)What makes you reject a script?
If the story, plotting and language are bad, count me out.
8)Any challenging role so far?
My target in the industry so far is to handle challenging roles and every of what I've expressed in movies are challenging and daring. That is, all my roles so far are challenging. They are most tasking. The only man that has helped me is God and I'm forever grateful to Him.
9)Lets talk about ayekaye.a well interpreted role.but did u feel anyway uncomfortable doing that role?
And what do you think about a guy dating an older lady? Can u?
9)Lets talk about ayekaye.a well interpreted role.but did u feel anyway uncomfortable doing that role?
And what do you think about a guy dating an older lady? Can u?
I will never be uncomfortable with any role. My philosophy as an actor "if i can't affect u as (in my roles), I'm a failure". This has guard my footprint since inception. You must always learn something through characters i portray. Dating an older lady is not something i will encourage at all. Morally, its out of shape but who are we to judge. Like i tell people, "experience my experience then, u will know". people have different reasons for things which u won't blame them for, I'm just been rational but in SUGAR MUMMY'S case, IT IS A TERRIBLE THING TO DO. As for me, I WILL NOT.
10) Lets go a bit personal, how was growing up like?
Growing up was tough for me. I grew up in Ibadan. I had all my schooling process done there. I was at UNITED NATIVE AFRICAN PRIMARY SCHOOL , Ekotedo Dugbe I left for POLYTECHINC HIGH SCHOOL, ijokodo and finally graduated as a Thearte Artist from the UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN, agbowo. You don't wanna know what it feels for an optimistic boy to grow in the midst of lay-backs (if u know what i mean).

11)Tell us more about your family.your siblings.
We are one big happy family. Most of them reside in Lagos. Basically, we are just five in this business, myself, kunle afolayan, moji afolayan, detayo afolayan and aremu afolayan. others are in different endevours.
12)When was/is your happiest moment?
12)When was/is your happiest moment?
That was when i witnessed as old as i was in 2003, my mum, as old as she was too, riding the bicycle i rented for few hours on our street. it was a site to behold. The whole of our neighborhood stood for good in awesome amusement (lol). Can't ever forget that.
13)And ur worst moment?
that was when i was rejected a role that i would have loved to play because of my body frame and seize. it hurts.
14)You are a delight to watch especially among ladies.how does that make you feel?
and please be real about this, how do you cope with the opposite sex?
. it makes me feel like am with the right course. that is, this is what i'm cut out for. it feels good and great. I thank them all. Sincerely, each time i hear this question "ow do i cope with female fans?" i feel very shy. I appreciate their appreciation a whole lot. it makes me feel deserved. The opposite sex are the most beautifully loving creature God ever created. Female folks are nothing but blessings. They save us all times. I love them and i appreciate their presence anywhere. coping with them is fine and i know how to.
15) Any serious relationship at the moment?

15) Any serious relationship at the moment?
No I am not. I've tried it but won't work. I realized over time You can't do God's work with human ability. No way. Man proposes but He disposes. I'm willing everything into His hands to handle cos i can't do it by myself. Waiting on Him to give a cue.
18)If you were to make a wish, wat will it be?
My wish is to know God more so i can feel my future better.
19)Describe yourself in one word.
cool and proper
