Natural hair or permed?Pretty Yemisi made a choice.

Yems is one of us on this blog. She reads everyday eventhough She hardly comments lol.She made a brave choice to go all natural years ago and since then,She hasn't had any reason to regret her decision. You will agree with me that women find it difficult to embrace their natural hair.Reason being that we are not so sure how we'll be accepted with an unpermed thick hair but some ladies have successfully braved all odds and embarked on this amazing journey and I learned it's worth it.I present to you Yemisi,in her world of unpermed hair.I believe a lot of you will agree with me that she still looks chick.

    1. Asanwa, thank you for your kind compliments regarding my hair and posture.

I read your comment and I was amazed.
"She should stop smiling in pictures, it doesn't suit her" ....Wowza!!Hilarious!!

A smile is a facial expression characterized by an upward curving of the corners of the mouth and indicating pleasure.

This smile that you're looking at is unique and was given to me by GOD!

My smile is beautiful, warm, friendly and an expression of my being. It represents my existence and my happiness. No matter the situation or challenge I smile and I will NEVER stop smiling.

If you haven't tried it I will encourage you to SMILE and read Proverbs 15:13.

    5. Hi Sis ! Congratulations and well done !! Indeed it's not easy but it's worth it ! Natural hair grows and the secret to your growth is "moisture " lots of moisture ! I have a little spritz bottle in my handbag when I feel my hair drying and in that bottle is water with castor oil mixed together -and I spritz my hair till I feel like its moisturised! Don't believe the hype that water isn't good for our hair -think of it as a plant that needs water in order to grow !!

My deep conditioner consists of avocado, coconut milk, castor oil and honey. You can substitute the coconut milk with mayonnaise. Once I wash my hair and detangle it -I apply the condition to my hair starting from the roots to the ends and cover it with a steam cap for 40mins -I do this most Fridays so I leave the conditioner on my hair overnight and wash off in the morning .

YouTube is a good place to start - type in natural home hair remedies and you'll see lots of ingredients in your cupboard that can be used as a hair conditioner ! There are also lots of hair blogs you can follow ..

Wishing you all the best in your Hair journey xoxo

  5. @ asanwa, are u 4 real? She shld "stop" smiling in pictures? Whr shld she "accelerate" her smiling?in reality?is the pix not from reality ni?..Av u seen Jonathan smiles b4..u need to , then u will realise d@ our dear Yems has d smile of a president..
@Yems, How do u switch so perfectly.I think I will love to go natural too ooo..if not for me ,atleast for my hubby..walahi ,I always pity d guy each time we make love..it's either he is removing some strands of Brazilian hair from his mouth or d hair getting into his eyes..cos d moment he lay atop me. He kisses everywhr as if imprinting his logo on my entire body ni...he touches and holds as if doubting my existence..so I think dis natural hair will solve d problem...abi I lie ni?

    1. Thanks my Sis !!
LOL You're hilarious!! You've got to make the decision for going natural and stick to it-not one leg in and another out like jack in the box lol!!

Your reasons are suitable lol!! Especially if hubby isn't happy with the horse hair been all over the house BUT its not really about him ...he has to love you and accept you for who you are ! And if you're a Naturalista like me then he will accept it, the same applies to wearing artificial hair !

My switch wasn't perfect and neither was it easy .I made the decision to stop "frying" my hair and to stop wearing weaves and wigs alongside braiding when I noticed that both my edges had started to look like a mice had nibbled on them-it was a horrific sight !!

The journey has been challenging but I don't regret it at all and I'm still working on my edges but loving my hair daily by wearing it out in twists outs or with flexi rods !
If you're currently wearing wigs that's okay but once you've made the decision to go natural you can start off by cutting off the ends of your perm each month and wear protective styles -YouTube this as well for more info !

YouTube is a fabulous place for information on natural hair -all you need to do is type in "BIG CHOP" or " going natural " and you'll have lots to read and watch ! All the best ...looking forward to hearing about your HHJ " healthy hair journey " xoxo
